COME HERE! [ Lin proves Jinora right. She has very little patience for questions some days. ]

[GEEZ, LET A GIRL GET OFF THE TOILET. Korra finishes up and comes out into the hallway.]


What?!

[lawbender]

I want to talk to you. And Jinora.

[ Her tone is more reasonable now. She gestures for Korra to come into Jinora's room. with her. ]

[Jinora stays on her bed, cross-legged and (outwardly) calm.

She'd really rather not have this discussion happen.]

[anatural]

[Korra crosses her arms.]

What for?

[lawbender]

You know why. This has gone on long enough.

[bookbending]

[Jinora looks from Lin to Korra and back. Lin seems distinctly displeased.

The girl should say sorry, maybe, but she's not. She'll try to act less like Tenzin--like a parent; she won't apologize for being worried, though.]

[anatural]

Hey, don't look at me. I'm not the one who started it.

[bookbending]

[Well. If Korra's going to be immature.]

You're the one with the box.

[lawbender]

I'm looking at you because you're seventeen and should be mature enough to handle a little disagreement like an adult. [ Lin crosses her arms and stares. ] You need to apologize to Jinora.

[anatural]

I'm eighteen! [She's not sure how long she's been 18, but she knows it happened because that's why she had to get a job. It also occurs to her that that's not exactly helping her case]

BESIDES! She snuck into my room and went through my stuff!

[lawbender]

[ Yeah, you're really not helping by correcting your age. Lin rolls her eyes. Then she points at Korra. ] I'm not saying that Jinora was in the right here either. You both need to apologize. Your training is important. You can't stop learning airbending because you're upset with your master. You need discipline.

And you need restraint. [ At this, she eyes Jinora. ]

[Not only is being on the receiving end of one of Lin's disapproving looks daunting, but Jinora finds being told that she needs restraint upsetting. She's not used to falling short of expectations like this.

Then again, she's also not used to apologizing.]

I-- [She glances over at Korra. Why shouldn't she be the one who apologizes first? She's older and she was the one who was overreacting, not Jinora.] --I shouldn't have looked through your box.

[Not quite an apology. Indignation is still winning its war with shame at being found lacking, however slightly.]

[anatural]

I didn't call the training off! She did!

[She crosses her arms. She's tired of being embarrassed and ashamed of herself, but being tired of shame doesn't mean it goes away. Now she simply refuses to acknowledge it. It makes her indiscriminately willful.

Jinora's non-apology doesn't soften the older girl...much.]

Promise you'll stay out of my stuff in the future.

[The accusation, while true, does absolutely nothing to improve Jinora's mood. Neither does the condescending response to her not-really-an-apology.

Still, Lin is there.

There's only one way to play this.]

Fine. I promise I'll stay away from your sexy clothes in the future.

[lawbender]

[ Why is this so difficult aaaaaagh. Lin rubs the bridge of her nose. ]

[ Also, what is this about sexy clothes. Lin is not sure she is qualified to talk about sexy clothes. ]

[ This is why she's never had children. Well. One of many reasons. ]

Do you even understand the word apology?

[ This is probably a rhetorical question. ]

Korra, you are not the only injured party.

[anatural]

[SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM JINORA YOU DID NOT JUST!!!!!!!!!!]

You expect ME to apologize to HER? She went through my things and poked her nose where it didn't belong!

[And if Lin asks about these "sexy clothes," she is ragequitting this conversation. There is only so much she can handle.]

I was in there to wake you up for training and the box was right there. There wasn't any poking and you should've been there.

[anatural]

How'd you like it if I went into your room and opened up your boxes?!

[bookbending]

That depends. Why would you be in my room? To wake me up for training?

[anatural]

[ARGH]

You being in my room isn't the problem. You looking through MY STUFF is. [And if it hadn't been that box, Korra wouldn't even care. Mostly she's just pissed that Jinoraa's uncovered something she'd been keeping private.]

I only looked because it was on your bed and you weren't.

[anatural]

That doesn't give you the right!

[lawbender]

Stop! Just stop.

[ She is losing control of this conversation, and that's bad. ]

You could both be better at respecting one another. Korra, Jinora is your teacher, and you can't pull rank on her when she makes you mad. And Jinora, you shouldn't invade anyone's privacy, even if you are curious. You are both at fault, and I would like you to admit that.

[ She points at Korra. Right now, yep. Admit it. ]
